This is a somewhat exclusive association for the most representative tennis clubs of the different countries that have been existing for more than 100 years.
Its creation goes back to Juan Maria Tintoré, president of the Real Club de Tonis of Barcelona, Robert Abdessalam (French champion of the 40ies and one of the most important persons in international tennis) and Marco Gilardelli (ex-player of the Italian team, very well-known in national an international tennis circuits). At present, Mr. Gilardelli is president of the “International Club”.
It has been possible to create the “Club Centenaires de Tennis” in collaboration with the above-mentioned persons, the eight oldest and most representative clubs in Europe and with the goodwill of the President of the IOC, Mr. Samaranch.
The Circolo Tennis Firenze entered this exclusive and prestigious circle in November 2003.
